ABOUT PROSECUTION
The Directorate of Prosecutions in Uttarakhand is entrusted with the administration and supervision of prosecution services across the State. The Directorate functions under the administrative control of the Home Department, coordinating prosecution work, legal advice and capacity building for prosecutors deployed at district and subordinate courts.
The Director of Prosecutions is supported by Additional and Joint Directors along with district-level prosecutors who handle prosecutions in District and Sessions Courts, Additional District Courts and Magistrate Courts. The Directorate oversees appointments, trainings, and ensures standards of professionalism and ethics in prosecution services across Uttarakhand.
Since the formation of Uttarakhand as a separate State, the Directorate has worked to strengthen legal support for government departments and to improve prosecution outcomes. The Directorate organises periodic training programs, workshops and sensitisation initiatives for prosecutors and other stakeholders of the criminal justice system to ensure fair and timely delivery of justice.
